OPP believe suspects in Champlain Township shooting fired shots at wrong target

Provincial police believe it could be a case of mistaken identify after shots were fired at a residence in Champlain Township earlier this month.

The Hawkesbury Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) confirms that shots were fired at a residence on St. Anne Road between 11:15 p.m. and 11:45 p.m. on Sunday, Apr. 7.

Police now believe the suspects attended the wrong address and that the residence was not the intended target.

Police also believe the shooting was an isolated incident and there is no threat to public safety at this time.

There were no injuries involved and the investigation remains active.

The OPP is asking anyone who might have surveillance camera footage along St. Anne Road, between County Road 17 and Charbonneau Road during the time of the incident, to immediately contact them at 1-888-310-1122.

Should you wish to remain anonymous, you can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222- 8477 (TIPS).
