Police take impaired driver off the road thanks to callers

Around 8:40 a.m. on Wednesday, Ottawa Police Services (OPS) received multiple 9-1-1 calls for a driver.

According to OPS in a post on X, callers saw a vehicle with a flat tire driving “unpredictably” through stop signs and eventually hitting a lamp post.

From the information given to operators, officers were able to locate the vehicle and conduct a traffic stop where the driver appeared intoxicated and was arrested.

“THANK YOU to the 911 callers,” OPS said. “You may have saved a life (or lives) today.”
