City warns of speeding infraction text scam

A warning from the City of Ottawa about a scam involving speeding infractions.

In a post to social media, the city said it’s received reports of suspicious text messages seeking payment for speeding infractions.

Municipal officials are advising these are not legitimate and that the city will never contact you via text seeking payment.

If you have received scam messages, you’re asked to please contact the Ottawa Police Service (OPS) at 613-236-1222.
