One adult, two children rescued from Overbrook highrise fire. Arson unit investigating

Three people have been rescued from a highrise fire in Overbrook the neighbourhood.

Ottawa Fire Services (OFS) responded to an apartment building at 1244 Donald St. at approximately 6:25 a.m. on May 2.

Firefighters rescued one adult and two children from a third-floor apartment. The three occupants were transported to the hospital where they remain in critical condition, a press release from Ottawa Police Services reads.

Six people were treated on scene and five others were transported to hospital with minor injuries including smoke inhalation.

The Ottawa Police Arson Unit is investigating the fire as it has been deemed suspicious.

The fire was declared under control shortly before 7 a.m.

Motorists are advised to expect delays in the area of St. Laurent Boulevard and Donald Street.
