Two charged after police seize drugs, cash from downtown home

Two people have been charged after police found drugs, cash, cell phones and drug packaging material in a downtown Ottawa home.

On May 2, a search warrant was executed at a home on Clarence Street where officials seized over $3,500 in cash, crack cocaine, cocaine, a bulletproof vest and a prohibited magazine.

Jordan Laviolette, 19, and Marsha Charmant, 21, both of Ottawa were jointly charged with several counts of drug offences, possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of proceeds of crime and breach of probation.

Police said in a press release, that members of the street crime unit in April 2024 started the investigation into the two individuals suspected of trafficking illicit drugs.

Both suspects are scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
