Lanark OPP release video in connection with hit and run death of Montague Township man

Provincial police are asking the public for help after a suspected hit and run fatality in Smiths Falls.
The body of Steven Tate, 34, of Montague Township, was found on November 8, 2023, adjacent to Highway 15. He had been reported missing on November 4, the last day he was seen alive.
The Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is now providing new details in this case, as it’s believed members of the public may have crucial information.
Investigators have released video and still images of a vehicle, believed to be responsible for Tate’s death. The video shows a dark coloured hatchback or sedan, believed to be a Mazda, which would have had damage to the front passenger side.

Detectives want to speak with anyone who may recognize the car or saw a potential match with the damage described above, anytime after 8 p.m. on November 4, 2023.
