The Ottawa Police Services (OPS) has laid charges for vehicle theft against four people, one of whom is still wanted.
Police say Jeremy Major, 23, of Salaberry-De-Valleyfield, Que. has been charged with conspiracy to commit an indictable offence and theft of a motor vehicle.
Major is described as a white male with a large build, short dark hair, dark facial hair and was last seen wearing glasses.
The three other men were charged and arrested, by OPS.
The four men from Quebec are involved in a theft group from the Montreal area, a press release reads. The group uses an unmarked white tow truck to steal vehicles from public areas, sometimes in broad daylight.
Police say the group is responsible for stealing a front-end loader.
In February, officers responded to Isabella and Elgin Streets for a suspicious incident where the caller said their vehicle was being stolen.
“The caller observed their vehicle, which had been parked on the street, being hooked up to a tow truck,” the press release reads.
Police pulled over the unmarked tow truck and arrested the driver while the investigation continued.
According to OPS, five incidents with investigations ongoing in Ottawa involved the driver and his accomplices. Police believe there could be more incidents.
