OPP stop rental truck with Arizona plates in Mississippi Mills; Ottawa man charged with impaired

A man from Ottawa has been charged after a traffic stop in Mississippi Mills.

Around 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 28, members of the Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a rental truck with Arizona licence plates on Highway 7 near Ramsay Concession 4A.

After seeing an open beer can in the vehicle, officers utilized the approved roadside screening device.

The driver was arrested and taken into the OPP detachment in Carleton Place for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Nicholas S’Anegelo, 30, of Ottawa, has been charged with operation while impaired.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court in Perth on July 8, 2024.

His driver’s licence has also been suspended for 90 days and the rental truck will spend days in impound.
