Three Ottawa residents among four charged in Pembroke firearm investigation

Four people are facing drug and weapons charges after a traffic stop in Pembroke.

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) East Region Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) began investigating reports of a firearm in a vehicle on Highway 17 on the afternoon of Thursday, May 23.

A short time later, with the assistance of patrol officers from the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of the OPP and the Canine Unit, officers conducted a traffic stop on Paul Martin Drive near Woodcrest Drive.

Police seized loaded firearms, ammunition, drug paraphernalia and a quantity of suspected cocaine.

As a result of the investigation, Zayvion Noble, 20, of Pierrefonds, QC, Dayquon Zulu, 19, of Ottawa, David Pepin, 18, of Ottawa, and Aunyx Proulx, 19, of Ottawa face the following charges:

  • Traffic in a schedule substance – cocaine
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purposes of trafficking – cocaine
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000
  • Transport firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition in a careless manner (two counts)
  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
  • Possession of prohibited device or ammunition for dangerous purpose
  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm
  • Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition
  • Occupant of a motor vehicle knowing there was a prohibited device or ammunition (two counts)
  • Possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
  • Possession of a firearm knowing serial number has been tampered with

Pepin faces the following additional charges:

  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose (two counts)
  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm
  • Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition
  • Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was a prohibited or restricted weapon (two counts)
  • Possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
  • Transport firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition in a careless manner (two counts)

Noble faces the following additional charges:

  • Failure to comply with undertaking (three counts)

Zulu faces the following additional charges:

  • Possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order (three counts)

All four accused individuals were held for bail hearings.
