Off-duty nurse, paramedic jump into action following collision north of Smiths Falls

One person is facing charges following a two-vehicle collision north of Smiths Falls.

The Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to the crash on Highway 15 shortly before 6 a.m. on Tuesday, June 11

According to the OPP, both vehicles were northbound when one driver attempted to turn left onto Sturgess Road, and the other driver attempted to pass.

One driver had to be extricated from the wreckage by members of the Montague Township Fire Department and Lanark County paramedics transported both drivers to hospital with minor injuries.

A 27-year-old from Brockville has been charged with careless driving and was given a ticket.

The OPP is also thanking an off-duty paramedic and an off-duty nurse, as well as other individuals, who stopped to help at the crash scene.
