Ottawa woman charged with hate crime after assault

A woman has been charged by the Ottawa Police Service Hate and Bias Crime Unit for an assault that happened last month.

Police say that on May 28, the accused assaulted three youth and an OC Transpo Special Constable in the area of Lees Avenue and the Transitway while hurling racial slurs.

Police have charged the 46-year-old Ottawa woman with:

  • Assault with a weapon
  • Harassment by threatening conduct
  • Three counts of mischief
  • Two counts of assault
  • Uttering threats
  • Assaulting a peace officer

She is scheduled to appear in court on Saturday.
