Heavy rain forecasted for Canada Day long weekend but fireworks day looks good

There is plenty of rain in the forecast for Ottawa over the Canada Day long weekend, but the skies are expected to be clear in time for Monday’s festivities.

While Friday is looking gorgeous and sunny, showers will arrive Saturday with a chance of thunderstorm for the late afternoon.

Environment Canada is calling for 10-15 mm of rain for Saturday, but despite the wet forecast, it’s going to be fairly hot.

The forecast high is 22 C, with a humidex of 30.

The weather agency is calling for a mix of sun and cloud for Sunday, with a strong chance of showers and a forecast high of 23 C.

The good news is the rain is expected to clear for Monday, with nothing but sunshine and a high 24.

Those clear skies are forecast to continue into the evening hours, with a low 12 — perfect conditions for fireworks.
