Ottawa could see 50 mm of rain due to remnants of Hurricane Beryl

A special weather statement remains in effect for Ottawa as the remnants of Hurricane Beryl brings heavy rainfall to the region.

Environment Canada says torrential downpours are likely and that rainfall totals could be in excess of 50 mm.

At this point, the heaviest rain is expected to remain south of the region where rainfall warnings have been issued. For communities along the Seaway, about 20 to 40 mm of rain per hour is possible.

If the weather system tracks farther north, warnings may need to be extended accordingly.

Consistent rain is expected for Wednesday, with conditions expected to improve Thursday.

  • Thursday: Showers. Local amount 5 to 10 mm. High 23. Humidex 30.
