Weekend need-to-know: Live music, pints and paddling

There is plenty of fun to be had in the nation’s capital this weekend, including the Kemptville Live Music Festival and a colourful paddling party.
Kemptville Live Music Festival – July 18-21 at Kemptville College
The lineup includes Burton Cummings, Glass Tiger, and Dean Brody.

Lock and Paddle – July 20 at Hartwells Lock
A Parks Canada event described as a “flash mob” of colourful canoes and kayaks, descending on Hartwells Lock for a celebratory lockage.
- No cost to register; all abilities are welcome
- Bring your own canoe/kayak + PFD’s for all participants
- Spectators are encouraged to watch from land

Kite and Food Festival – July 20 at Wesley Clover Park
Similar to Uttarayan, the Festival of Kites celebrated every year in India, colourful kites will fly in the sky all day long. This event is being held by the Gujarati Cultural Association of Ottawa. There will also be vegetarian food and music.

Pints in the Park – July 20 at the Manor Park Community Centre, 100 Thornwood Road, Ottawa
Beer, music and food! An adult-focused, family-friendly event featuring local breweries and restaurants, as well as a play structure for the kids.
