Youth charged for fireworks aimed at two females in Stittsville

On July 1, two female youths were walking on the sidewalk near the intersection of Stittsville Main Street and Fernbank Road, when fireworks were shot at them.

According to the two females, the incident happened at 11:30 p.m. A white SUV approached the pair and stopped while fireworks from the trunk of the vehicle were shot at them.

The youths fled on foot while the driver chased them for a short period, a police release notes. Neither of the females were injured in the incident.

After an investigation, officials determined there were four male youths in the vehicle, one of which did not have any involvement. Two of the youths were put through a diversion program.

The one who fired the fireworks was charged with two counts of assault with a weapon and two counts of harassment. Police said a video of the incident was shared widely on social media.
