Loaded handgun found during police traffic stop; suspects at large

A gun and vehicle have been seized following a traffic stop in Ottawa’s south-east end.

Frontline patrol officers were conducting a traffic stop around 1 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 6, but the driver fled the scene and abandoned the vehicle nearby.

A loaded firearm was found in the vehicle and it was seized for the investigation.

The occupants fled the scene on foot when officers located the vehicle and police confirm to CityNews, no suspect was arrested.
