OPP seize 200 grams of cocaine, charge five people in Pembroke bust

A drug bust in Pembroke has led to charges against five people.

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) East Region Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), along with the OPP’s Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), Emergency Response Team (ERT), Canine Unit and members of the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) OPP, executed a search warrant at an apartment on Pembroke Street East on Tuesday, Aug. 20.

Police seized over 200 grams of suspected cocaine and a quantity of cash, as well as a digital scale and multiple cell phones.

As a result of this investigation, Lorraine Kenny, 54, of Pembroke, Shawn Chartrand, 45, of Pembroke, Katlin Kinnear, 30, of Pembroke, Mutiur Rehman, 31, of Ottawa, and Edwin Edouard, 29, of Ottawa face the following charges:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine (two counts each)
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000 (one count each)

Rehman faces four additional charges of failing to comply with a probation order.

Edouard faces one additional charge of failing to comply with a probation order.

All five accused were held for bail hearings in Pembroke.

Kenny, Edouard and Chartrand are scheduled to appear on Thursday, Aug. 22, while Kinnear is due in court on Friday, Aug. 23.

Rehman is scheduled to appear on Wednesday, Aug. 28.
