ATV operator found dead in single-vehicle collision

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to reports of an upside-down ATV vehicle Saturday morning to find the result of a single-vehicle collision in the Gananoque River, near the intersection of Turn Around Road and Maple Grove Road.

The Leeds County Detachment of the OPP assisted by the Leeds and Thousand Islands Fire Department and the Leeds and Grenville Paramedics in locating the lifeless driver of the vehicle, identified as a local 64-year-old male. The man’s identity will not be released.

The time and cause of the collision are still unknown. The OPP is being assisted by the OPP Collision Reconstructionist, the Technical Traffic Collision Investigators, the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Office of Forensic Pathology.

The intersection of Turn Around Road and Maple Grove Road remains closed during the ongoing investigation.

Police are asking anyone who witnessed the collision or who may have information to come forward.
