Over 30 popular bread, bun products recalled after pieces of metal found

Dozens of popular bread and bun products have been recalled by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) after pieces of metal were found in some of the products.

Wonder, no name, Country Harvest, D’Italiano, and President’s Choice are among some of the well-known brands affected by the recall.

The CFIA links the bread and bun recall to another recall for the brand Sifto, which makes Hy·Grade Salt. The recall is due to pieces of metal. The product is sold to manufacturers and distributed out of Ontario.

The items were shipped to Ontario, Quebec and Newfoundland and Labrador.

• Brioche Style Hamburger Buns (520 g for 8 buns)
• Original Hamburger Buns (520 g for 8 buns)
• Sesame Hamburger Buns (520 g for 8 buns)

Great Value products recalled:

• 12 Grains Multigrain Loaf (600g)
• Ancient Grains Multigrain Loaf (600g)
• Flax & Quinoa Multigrain Loaf (600g)
• White Bread (675 g)
• 100% Whole Wheat Bread (675 g)

no name products recalled:

• 100% Whole Wheat Bread (675 g)
• Original Bread (675 g)

President’s Choice products recalled:

• Gigantico Burger Buns (568 g for 8 buns)

Deli World products recalled:

• Sesame Buns (696 g for 12 buns)

Giant Value products recalled:

• 100% Whole Wheat Bread (675 g)
• White Bread (675 g)

“Do not use, sell, serve or distribute the affected products,” the agency warns.

It’s not clear if any injuries or illnesses have been reported from consuming contaminated products.
