The weather forecast for the nation’s capital and the surrounding region shows freezing rain is possible overnight.
According to Environment Canada, freezing precipitation is in the forecast due to a low-pressure system travelling from the Great Lakes. It is expected to be heavy at times overnight before switching to rain by Tuesday morning.
Ice is possible on surfaces with the weather agency estimating about 1 to 3 millimetres by the morning.
“Take extra care when walking or driving in affected areas,” Environment Canada said on its website.
The Ottawa Valley, Hawkesbury and communities along the Seaway could see freezing rain.
The cool and wet weather could bring flurries to the city over the next several days, according to the forecast from Environment Canada. After Tuesday, the temperatures begin to drop hovering around 0 C, increasing the chance of flurries.
