Provincial police from the Upper Ottawa Valley detachment laid impaired driving charges after responding to a rollover crash in North Algona-Wilberforce Township.
In the afternoon on Jan. 15, police were called to Highway 41 near Micksburg Road, just south of Pembroke, where they found a single vehicle rolled over. The driver was not seriously injured, the press release reads.
Part of the investigation was using a roadside screening device. When the driver was then taken to the detachment for more testing, he was found to have more than three times the legal blood alcohol limit.
Donald Schofield, 62, of Bonnechere Valley Township was charged with operation while impaired (alcohol) and operation while impaired (blood alcohol concentration 80mg plus).
His driver’s licence is suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was towed and is impounded for a week. The accused was released and is set to appear in court on Feb. 18.
