Police investigate bomb threat to St. Mark Catholic School in Prescott

St. Mark Catholic School in Prescott has reopened following a threat to the school on Monday morning.

In an update on the situation, provincial police said the school closed as officials canvas the area. Officers did note that they believe there is no “actual threat” but will conduct an investigation regardless.

“There is no threat to student or public safety but the OPP remains on scene,” police said. “Parents will receive further updates from the school board.”

The Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario told CityNews that two messages were sent to parents during the incident.

The first message told guardians that the school received a bomb threat to the school through voicemail. At the time students waited on buses while police were called.

“Please be assured that all students are safe and warm,” it reads.

The second message came at 12:45 p.m. and notes that students are resuming their regular schedules for the rest of the day after police conducted a “thorough” investigation.
