Hwy. 401 reopened near Kingston after tractor-trailers collide

Police are on scene after two tractor-trailers crashed just before 6:00 a.m. on Friday.

The incident happened near Gardiners Road in Kingston and no injuries have been reported, provincial police said on X. Portions of the highway were closed for clean up but reopened around 12:30 p.m.

It’s been reported neither of the trucks were transporting any hazardous goods.

The eastbound lanes from Odessa at County Road 6 to the crash site were closed. Officers had one westbound lane closed to allow the backlog of traffic from the eastbound lanes through. The westbound lanes opened later in the morning but the eastbound lanes are likely to be closed for “another couple of hours” officers noted.

Officials are reminding people that using their phone while driving past a crash can still result in a distracted driving charge.
