Driver caught watching TV on Hwy. 417 during rush hour

An enforcement effort by Ontario Provincial Police led to multiple people being fined for using their phone while driving.

Officials said the blitz happened on Thursday morning during the commute. A total of 16 drivers were charged with distracted driving, including one who was watching TV in traffic.

Police say that the penalty upon conviction is a $616 fine, three demerit points and a three day driving suspension.
