Truck loses drive shaft on Highway 417; eight vehicles damaged

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Ottawa detachment responded to reports of a vehicle that lost its drive shaft on Highway 417 at Innes Road.

This incident took place soon after 2 p.m. on Feb. 26, wrote OPP on X.

According to OPP, this resulted in damage to eight vehicles, as well as a traffic slowdown for two hours while police conducted an investigation.

Following the incident, the company was charged with permit operation of unsafe vehicle – commercial motor vehicle, officers added.

The accused is set to appear in court at a later date.
