Man charged with trafficking stolen vehicles near Cornwall

Officers from the Ministry of Transportation (MTO) conducted a traffic stop and inspection at the Curry Hills Scales — east of Cornwall — that lead to them finding stolen vehicles.

MTO officers discovered two stolen vehicles in a sea container just before 9:00 a.m. on March 17, wrote the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in a press release. The recovered vehicles had been reported stolen in the Greater Toronto area.

According to police, the Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry Detachment of OPP responded to the scene and made an arrest.

The accused, a 63-year-old man from Saint-Hubert, Que., is facing multiple charges.

Following an investigation, Ghislain Gallant has been charged with two counts of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and one count of trafficking stolen goods over $5,000.

Gallant has been released from custody and is set to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on May 7, 2025.
