Police arrest man with replica firearm near CHEO

Ottawa police intercepted and arrested a man with a gun before he got to the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO).

The incident happened Saturday afternoon around 5:00 p.m. Officers were told by a 911 caller that there was a man seen with a gun in the emergency department of the hospital.

Police arrived and were able to arrest the suspect a short distance from the hospital. During this situation, police recovered a replica firearm.

There were no injuries reported and no further threats to the public.
