G2 driver charged with impaired driving, speeding 82 km/h above limit

A G2 driver has been charged with impaired driving, following an early morning traffic enforcement conducted by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) early in the morning on March 23.

Around 3:00 a.m. Sunday morning, a Grenville OPP officer stopped a vehicle speeding at 182 km/h on Highway 416, the force said in a release.

The officer conducted an impaired driving investigation roadside, resulting in the arrest of the 20-year-old Ottawa man.

According to police, he has been criminally charged with:

  • Operation while impaired;
  • Operation while impaired – blood-alcohol concentration (BAC) 80 plus; and
  • Dangerous operation.

Under the Highway Traffic Act, the accused has also been charged with stunt driving and being a novice driver with blood alcohol level above zero.

The Ottawa man has been released and will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Brockville at a later date.
