A G2 driver faces a jail sentence of up to six months after being caught for the third time speeding in the nation’s capital.
Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) said that the driver was pulled over on April 5 on Highway 416. At the time, the officer clocked the vehicle travelling 153km/h.
This officer also recognized the driver as the same person caught going 159 km/h on the same highway in June 2024. Even a month prior, another officer caught them going 167 km/h on Highway 417.
“If convicted of all three charges, this driver faces a minimum 10-year driving prohibition, with the potential for a lifetime driving ban as well as a $10,000 fine,” police said in a post on X.
The accused also faces the possibility of a six-month jail term. Immediately, the driver lost their licence and had the vehicle impounded for 14 days.

Another learner driver several days later is facing multiple charges following a traffic stop OPP.
On Monday, officers stopped the driver on Highway 417 after police were alerted through an Automated License Plate Recognition (ALPR) notification.
The message told officers the registered owner of the vehicle was under a driving suspension. After speaking with the person driving the vehicle, they learned they were the registered owner with a suspended G1 licence.
Police say the existing suspension was for violating G1 driving conditions. In addition to that, police learned the car was not insured.
The driver was given multiple charges for novice driver violations, driving under suspension and operating a vehicle without insurance. That uninsured vehicle was impounded for a week.
