Another Beer Store will be shutting its doors this summer, the company confirmed.
As of July 20, the storefront at 900 Bank St. in Ottawa will be closing along with several other locations across the province.
In a statement, the Beer Store noted that it will continue focusing on sustainability and recycling while modernizing operations.
“I understand this will be disappointing news to customers and employees,” Ozzie Ahmed, Vice President Retail, said. “The Beer Store is committed to treating employees with respect and supporting them during this transition.”
This announcement comes after the Beer Store said it would close two other locations in the nation’s capital.
The Beer Store location at 2144 Carling Ave. in the city’s west end will close by June 15. This is the second store in the nation’s capital to close this year, the first was located in Bells Corners.
In those decisions, Ahmed said in a statement that changing markets and landscapes forced the company to adapt.
All this comes after multiple changes the Doug Ford government implemented in the last year, including allowing private retailers like corner stores to sell alcohol. Premier Ford also allowed The Beer Store to start selling OLG lottery tickets, mugs, T-shirts and even food.
