17-year-old facing multiple gun, drug charges

Ottawa police laid several charges against a teenager in relation to a firearm and drug investigation.
Officials said in a press release that the 17-year-old was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm. Police also said that the accused was in possession of a “large quantity of drugs.”
Officers said they seized another loaded and illegal gun, and ammunition, after a separate search of his home this week. The suspect can not be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA).
He is facing several offences including:
- Possession of a loaded firearm without a valid licence
- Unlawful possession of prohibited devices
- Careless handling and storage of a weapon
- Additional charges relate to possessing weapons while under a court-imposed firearms prohibition
- Possessing property believed to be obtained through crime
Police also said in a press release that he is also being charged with failing to comply with a previous sentence under the YCJA.
