Injured driver freed after being trapped in multi-vehicle crash

The Ottawa Fire Services (OFS) said they safely extracted a driver from a vehicle following a crash causing extensive damage in Ottawa’s south end on Monday.

The collision occurred around 4 p.m. at the 9th Line Road and Parkway Road intersection.

Ottawa police were first notified and then called members of the OFS requesting assistance. Firefighters responded to the scene and confirmed it to be a three-vehicle collision with a driver trapped inside their vehicle.

The driver suffered non-life-threatening injuries due to the crash. They were stabilized before fire crews attempted an extraction.

Using “specialized tools,” OFS said they were able to safely remove the trapped driver.
