Fraudulent documents seized in Barrhaven traffic stop

Two men have been charged with a number of fraud and drug-related charges following a traffic stop on Sept. 11.

Members of the South Neighbourhood Resource Team and the Traffic Escort and Enforcement Unit conducted a traffic stop in the Barrhaven area in the late morning.

Police say officers detected the odour of cannabis and proceeded to conduct a search of the vehicle.

Police seized a quantity of cannabis, but also found counterfeit passports, numerous bank and credit cards, banking documents — including fraudulent documents — and a point-of-sale machine.

Two men are now facing a slew of charges.

The Financial Crimes Unit is investigating.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the unit at 613-236-1222, extension 5292, or submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers.
