Impaired driver stopped going wrong way on Ottawa street, police say

Provincial police in Ottawa have charged a male driver following a traffic stop Tuesday morning.

It happened around 4 a.m. on Isabella Street when officers observed a driver “attempting to drive the wrong way,” police said in a post on X.

Once stopped, police suspected the 24-year-old man from Ottawa to be under the influence of alcohol.

As a result, Kwe Gui was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

As is common with impaired driving incidents, police suspended his licence for 90 days and impounded the vehicle he was driving for seven days.
