Police have released the name of the man stabbed in Ottawa’s east end.
According to the press release, Justin James Weir, 55, succumbed to his injuries in hospital after police found him suffering stab wounds on Oct. 2. The city’s 14th homicide prompted an investigation that closed a portion of St. Laurent Boulevard for several hours.
Officials are asking anyone who was in the area of Montreal Road and Brittany Drive between 11:30 on Wednesday and 1:30 on Thursday to speak to police. They are also asking people to check their surveillance cameras or dash cam footage.
Police were called to the 500 block of St. Laurent around 6:50 a.m. and found Weir in critical condition. Paramedics took him to hospital in life-threatening condition, where he died.
Officers do not have anyone in custody and are reaching out to the public for information.
Weir is the seventh stabbing-related death in Ottawa this year.
