Pedestrian dead following collision in Hawkesbury

One person is dead following a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian Friday evening.

Hawkesbury OPP and emergency responders were dispatched to County Road 17 between Boundary Road and Lajeunesse Road around 7:45 p.m. following reports of a collision.

When responders arrived they found a 48-year-old male who had been hit. He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

County Road 17 was closed for several hours but has since reopened.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 1-888-310-1122.
