Drivers and pedestrians had to navigate difficult roads as snowstorm brings upwards of 35 cm of snow.

With up to 35 cm of snow forecasted for Ottawa and The Valley on Thursday, school buses were promptly cancelled for many students.

Buses were cancelled for students in the Ottawa Catholic School Board, Ottawa-Carleton District School Board, Conseil des écoles catholiques du Centre-Est (CECCE) and Conseil des écoles publiques de l’Est de l’Ontario.

Although there were no buses, schools remained open.

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) said they responded to nearly a dozen collisions since 5:00 a.m. on Thursday across eastern Ontario.

A winter parking ban was issued by the city to help allow with clean up as the snow accumulated.
