Man in life-threatening condition after ‘blunt force’ aggravated assault

Ottawa police responded on Wednesday afternoon to the downtown core for a serious assault.

A man is in life-threatening condition after an aggravated assault around 2:00 p.m. Officers called were able to arrest another man shortly after the situation at the intersection of Colonel By Drive and Rideau Street, and he remains in custody.

Paramedics said in an email that the man suffered “blunt force traumatic injuries.” He was stabilized before taken to hospital.

Officials say they believe more people were involved in the incident. They are asking anyone with information to come forward.
