Gloucester spa damaged in evening fire

Crews were called to Ottawa’s east end after a caller reported heavy smoke coming from what they believed was a bungalow.
According to firefighters, when they arrived at the 1400 block of Meadowbrook Road in Gloucester, they found flames coming from a low-rise structure. Photos from officials show the building was hosting a spa.
By 8:20 p.m. on Wednesday, crews had confirmed there were flames in the attic, dispatching more resources to the scene.
Bringing a hose inside the building, another team searched the area for people and didn’t find any.
Firefighters said the incident was under control by 9:01 p.m. An investigator was brought to the area to determine the cause and origin.
A fire watch was set up to ensure there were no more flare-ups.
