Two-alarm fire called for two homes in flames

A house fire was able to spread to a neighbouring home near Mooney’s Bay before crews arrived on scene early Tuesday morning.
Calls came into the Ottawa fire communications department around 4:19 a.m. reporting a house fire in the 2700 block of Flannery Drive.
Arriving within four minutes, crews found the single-storey home engulfed in flames. It was already spreading to the roof of a nearby house, prompting a second alarm, bringing more resources.
Teams brought multiple hoses towards both houses and entered the first building where the fire started.
About 20 minutes later, a partial collapse of the structure, where flames were spouting from the roof, created “dangerous conditions,” forcing firefighters out of the home.
“Once conditions allowed, firefighters re-entered the structure and completed a thorough search,” the press release reads.
No one was found inside. A team also searched the second house that caught fire, where no one was inside either.
By 5:11 a.m., the flames were under control, and an investigator was at the scene.
