Severe thunderstorm, 90 km/h winds possibility threatening Ottawa

Meteorologists have a high confidence that a severe storm will hit the nation’s capital on Monday afternoon and into the evening.
Environment Canada experts note that the humid, hot weather are creating “favourable” conditions that could produce strong winds, large hail and heavy rain. They are calling for gusts up to 90 km/h, quarter or ping pong-sized hail and possibly 50 milimetres of rain.
There is a risk of a tornado, the weather agency warns.
“Conditions may become favourable for some storms to produce tornadoes, but confidence in any tornado threat is low,” meteorologists explain.
However, power outages and damage to branches, roofs and fences is still possible. Environment Canada is asking people to be prepared in case the threatening weather approaches.
“Emergency Management Ontario recommends that you take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches,” it said.
Temperatures are hovering around 25 C on Monday, but it feels more like 30 factoring in the humidex. It’s expected to dip overnight with a cooler daytime temperature on Tuesday.
