OC Transpo provides fall improvements updates

The Transit Committee heard OC Transpo’s fall service improvements update, which includes bus route adjustments, updates on the Stage 2 O-Train expansion and customer feedback from summer sessions.
OC Transpo said that as of Aug. 20, 30 bus routes which serve about 50 per cent of transit users got more reliable bus schedules. Train frequency also improved on O-Train Line 1 and earlier service was introduced on Line 2. Finally, the express service between Kanata and Orléans started, which helps save commuters around 10 and 20 minutes per day.
In a release, OC Transpo said it plans to adjust the schedules of up to 20 additional routes to make them more reliable this winter and will continue monitoring ridership over the fall months.
Updates also included:
- Information about the four summer sessions for customer feedback, which OC Transpo identified main needs as express bus service, reliability and capacity, service enhancements, safety, comfort and cleanliness.
- Hiring and training efforts, with a record number of employees trained this year.
- Pre-trial running of the East extension of O-Train expansion is set to begin in early October.
- Trasnit will be free for all OC and Para Transpo users on Sept. 26 and 27.
The Committee also learned that in July 2026, O-Train and bus ridership was 4.4 million and total ridership for the past 12 months was 67.9 million. Para Transpo ridership for July was 76,800. Total ridership over the past 12 months was 925,900.
