60-year-old man struck and killed in Barrhaven, paramedics say

A man sustained critical injuries he could not survive, after he was struck by a vehicle early Wednesday morning.

Superintendent of public information for Ottawa Paramedics Services, Marc-Antoine Deschamps, told CityNews in an email that emergency responders were called around 6:20 a.m.

They arrived at Strandherd and Cresthaven drives and found a pedestrian in critical condition.

“Unfortunately, they were pronounced deceased at the scene by paramedics,” Deschamps said.

As a result of the incident, Ottawa police closed down Strandherd between Woodroffe Avenue and Prince of Wales Drive for several hours.

Police said they are looking for people to come forward with information about the collision, asking for witnesses and dashcam footage.

“Our thoughts are with the family,” the update from officials reads.
