Resident fined for spreading manure at site of pop-up injection site

OTTAWA – Operators of the unsanctioned supervised injection site are shocked and upset after a resident spread manure at their location in Raphael Brunet Park Thursday afternoon.
The city’s Manager of Bylaw and Regulatory Services, Roger Chapman, confirmed to 1310 News a bylaw officer issued a Provincial Offence Notice to the person who “deposited waste” in the park.
It’s a $260 fine for breaching the city’s Parks and Facilities Bylaw.
Overdose Prevention Ottawa reports volunteers have seen an average of 35 visits a night.
Over 40 days of monitoring injection drug users, there’ve been 1,394 visits to the tented site.
