OTTAWA — High profile Ottawa chef Matt Carmichael has admitted he sexually harassed women — revealing in a statement he has been in treatment for drug and alcohol abuse.
Carmichael writes he has stepped back from the operations of Riviera, El Camino, and Datsun — trendy downtown eateries that attract political power-brokers and young, hip crowds.
He says he has “no role in daily operations.”
In the statement, Carmichael admits he’s sexually harassed women with inappropriate comments, and he decided along with his fiance to speak up, and apologise as part of his recovery.
Carmichael says he’s recently completed a 30 day program in southern Ontario, and has been in treatment for substance abuse since June 2017.
