Calabogie-area motorcycle crash kills Renfrew woman

A passenger on a motorcycle that was involved in a single-vehicle crash south of Calabogie has died.

The motorcycle crashed on Highway 511 at White Lake Road, between Calabogie and Perth, around 2 p.m. on Sunday.

Joanne Ciphery, 54, of the Town of Renfrew, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver, Brian Robinson, 57, of the Town of Pembroke, sustained major injuries and was transported by air ambulance to a hospital in the City of Ottawa.

There's been no word yet what led to the crash.

The highway was closed while police investigated but has since been re-opened.
