The National Capital Commission (NCC) is shutting down its free shuttle service for the remainder of its Fall Rhapsody program at Gatineau Park.
The NCC announced late last week that it was cancelling the shuttle for the first weekend of Fall Rhapsody, but since the COVID-19 pandemic alert level has recently been raised to code orange in the Outaouais region, it decided to cancel the entire service.
Officials saw an increase in the number of people in Gatineau Park last weekend, and say, due to the importance of encouraging people to limit gatherings, the NCC hopes its decision will help reduce crowding of park infrastructure.
Since 2015, the NCC, in partnership with the Société de transport de l’Outaouais (STO), has offered a free shuttle service for people to visit Gatineau Park on Fall Rhapsody weekends.
Meanwhile, the NCC is reminding residents that Gatineau Park parkways will be open to active users only, every day until noon. Motor vehicles can access the parkways daily from noon until 30 minutes after sunset.
The parkways will close to motor vehicles for the winter on Sunday, October 25, at 6 p.m.
