COVID-19 levels in Ottawa’s wastewater plateauing: expert

New data is showing Ottawa's COVID-19 wastewater levels are appearing more stable at this time.
According to Tyson Graber, a researcher at the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) monitoring COVID-19 levels in the city's waterwater, new infections have appeared to have plateaued.
“We do have some data over the last several days that does suggest we are plateauing,” Graber told The Sam Laprade Show on Thursday, April 21. “It is not going down, but it is not increasing.”
He adds researchers are also waiting on more data to see if there are any bumps in transmission relating to the recent long weekend.
“We can't make too much conclusions out of what happened during Easter weekend because it does take a day or two for people to get infected and to shed this into the wastewater, and then we detect it,” Graber explained.
However, he remains optimistic there will not be a significant spike in new infections linked to the long weekend.
Graber adds there are indicators that Ottawa is moving in the right direction in the fight against COVID-19, and feels the rest of Ontario is also showing similiar signs of improvement.
