Investigators don’t suspect foul play in deaths of four cadets at Kingston’s Royal Military College

Investigators say there is no reason to suspect foul play in the deaths of four cadets at the Royal Military College (RMC) in Kingston, Ontario that occurred in the early hours of April 29.

Officer cadets Jack Hogarth, Andrei Honciu, Broden Murphy and Andrés Salek died when their vehicle  “entered the waters” at the Point Frederick peninsula, where Lake Ontario meets the St. Lawrence River.

In a statement, the Department of National Defence (DND) states “the Canadian Forces National Investigation Service (CFNIS) is, with the assistance of the local Military police detachment and Kingston police, supporting an ongoing Ontario coroner’s investigation into the deaths of four officer cadets at the Royal Military College of Canada.”

The CFNIS will not release any further information until the coroner has completed a report.

“At this time, there is no reason to believe there is any foul play from an outside source related to this incident,” the statement reads. “Coroners in Ontario investigate deaths that appear to be from unnatural causes or natural deaths that occur suddenly or unexpectedly.”
