Three Ottawa hospitals rank in top 10 in Ontario for longest wait times

Three Ottawa area hospitals rank in the top 10 in Ontario for the longest wait times according to new statistics from Health Quality Ontario. 

The latest data shows patients waited an average of 2.1 hours to see a doctor in an Ontario emergency room (ER) in the month of May of 2022, up from 1.9 hours from April while in Ottawa, the average wait time to see a doctor for a first assessment in an ER was between 1.9 hours and 3.7 hours.

For the first assessment by a doctor, patients waited an average of 3.7 hours at the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO), while the General Campus of the Ottawa Hospital reported an average wait time of 3.6 hours for the first assessment by a doctor. Meanwhile, the first assessment by a doctor at the Queensway Carleton Hospital was reported to be an average of 3.4 hours according to the latest statistics. 

At the Civic Campus of the Ottawa Hospital, the average wait time for a patient's first assessment was 2.8 hours and the Montfort Hospital saw a patient wait an average of 1.9 hours for a first assessment from a doctor.
